Rainbow
Among our projects is the build of J-Class yacht Rainbow. This will be a replica of the famous J that won the America's Cup against Endavour in 1934.In 2007 Dykstra & Partners was asked to re-design Rainbow following the original design from William Starling Burgess but as an aluminium yacht with carbon mast and rigging, and 3-DL sails. The yacht is being built to Lloyds A1 and MCA so that she can be used for both racing and chartering.
In July 2010 Rainbow's hull arrived at Holland Jachtbouw in Zaandam. Following on from the construction of worldfamous yachts such as Windrose of Amsterdam (152 ft), Christoffel's Lighthouse (90 ft), Whisper (115 ft), Skylge (141 ft), YII (121 ft) and most recently the world's largest private schooner Athos (203 ft), this represents another huge challenge for this leading yard.
In February 2012 Holland Jachtbouw launced Rainbow. > read more
April 2012. After 78 years the famous J-Class yacht 'Rainbow' sails again. This replica of the America's Cup winner from 1934 will be taking part in the J-Class races being held in England between June and July. She sails under the number JH-2.
