Although the 80 ft ketch Tempest was not originally constructed by Holland Jachtbouw, the rebuild we carried out in 1999/2000 was so extensive that she feels like one of our own fleet. One of the famous maxi-racers ordered by Jim Killroy, she was also one of the first aluminium maxi’s ever built. After her launch in 1974, this Sparkman & Stephens designed yacht had a racing record second to none.

Tempest’s incredible refit was carried out in partnership with Hoek Design. The yacht was stripped to a bare hull, bulkheads were repositioned and the yacht was reconfigured into a performance cruising yacht. Carbon spars, new teak decks, a new paint system, and a completely new interior and systems gave Tempest a second life that she has since enjoyed to the max.
