PATRIOT UPDATE: THE FIRST PHASE COMPLETED

The first phase of the refit of “Patriot” is now complete. Since her arrival at the yard, the yacht has been carefully stripped and prepared, creating a clear starting point for the next stage of the project.

Super Duplex Hulls plays a key role in preparing the exterior for the upcoming paint works. Their team is working across the decks and exterior areas, checking and servicing deck fittings and scuppers, carrying out stainless steel works and producing new components where required. New railings are being fabricated, and the hull thickness is measured to assess the condition of the structure and define any follow up actions.

At the same time, the existing teak decks have been removed, and Gemini is now measuring the decks in detail. These measurements take into account all changes made during the stripping phase and form the basis for the new teak decks that will be installed later on.

Parallel to the structural and deck related works, the technical systems on board are thoroughly checked in close cooperation with our technical partner Jongkind Service Medemblik. All major systems are inspected and tested, including fuel, bilge, firefighting and hydraulic systems, as well as compressors, ventilation and cooling circuits. This process allows us to clearly identify where maintenance, service or upgrades are required. As part of this process, a new battery package and new inverters will be installed, while the existing DC and AC systems are inspected and evaluated.

With this phase completed, “Patriot” is now ready to move into the next step of her refit. In the coming weeks, the focus will shift to the exterior paintwork. This marks the moment where dismantling transitions into rebuilding, and where progress will become more visible.

All work is progressing well and according to schedule. The foundation is now in place to build “Patriot” back up, with the goal of having her ready to set off on a new season of cruising.
